Saturday, 23rd April 2011,

I know this is kinda late to blog about the Energizer Night Race considering it has gotten so much grief from the media since the race. But thought I should just blog about my experiences for the night.

Left the house with my sister and bro-in-law at about 6ish to Sepang and only arrive at about 7.15-7.20?? Kind our fault slightly cause I think we ended up taking the wrong turn and went through the back way which definitely took us a longer time to reach. Anyways, once we got there and parked, only did we realise we had to walk another erm.. 500m - 1km to reach the building. We needed to pee so badly so badly so we quickly used the toilet. We then continued to cross what everyone calls the "tunnel of death". Once on the other side, first thing we saw was that ALL the headlights were gone. Which was our first dissapointment (not a big one but still). Me and sister was just thinking should Energizer know how many people registered? Anyway, didn't really phase us. So we just continued.

Me and bro-in-law were doing the half mara. Once we got there, we heard on the PA system that it was going to start soon ON the track itself. But there was SOOO many people and NO signage on where to go, we were kinda lost for a second. Me and bro-in-law was rushing to try and get to the start line before they started. They started counting down.. I got so desperate I ended up just jumping over the fence. :P We managed to catch our breathes for a min or 2 before the race actually started but the walk FROM the carpark to the starting line already got us sweating!

Anyway, horn went off and we started. We started moving.. but VERY SLOWLY though! To the point that bro-in-law asked to confirm whether we had started. What was holding the line was because we all had timing chips, we ALL had to squeeze through a small lane to make sure we had ran over the mats! I'm sure it took us a good 3 minutes from where we were standing to actually get through the small lane.

Anyway, for the 21km runners, our route was to do 1 large loop outside and then 2 loops inside the track. My outer loop was pretty good - enough water stations (which was all that mattered to me in a run). Only thing I have to complain about was that although they had water stations, they only had 2 tiny tables which resulted to everyone crowding around the tables just to get a drink! Drink stations are just meant to be on the go and shouldn't have a need for people crowding and waiting. I had to even pour my own drink. Anyways, as I was saying. Apart from the small tables, I was quite happy with the run. I was doing good time and was pretty satisfied with the number of drink stations therefore I didn't drink much thinking that I could get more in the next one.

Once we got to the circuit though was a totally different story. Circuit was quite a hard route to run for me actually. Having being able to see the grand stand (which was the start of the loop) the whole time kinda played mind tricks on me thinking that it was just around the corner. Apart from that, it was quite hilly as well! Lastly, there was only 1 drink stop in the WHOLE track which was a 5km loop! Add mind games + hilly + 1 drink stop = total FAIL for me. And that was my only issue with the run. When I finished, I really felt like I couldn't breathe. Felt like I was going to pass our or vomit at the same time. Not sure if that's even possible but that's how I felt.

Everyone had complained about riots during goodie bag pick up etc but I was still doing my run then, so am not sure what happened. I saw the line yes - I heard the lady over the PA system yes. But did not see anything else.

Sorry - really lengthy blog without pictures huh?? Couldn't take any photos cause had left the phone in the car. Anyway, finished my run in really poor timing. Was really not happy with self. Had to walk pretty much the last loop cause I was dying. Left me with a pretty demoralising feeling right after the run and have not ran since that night.

FML! What did I get myself into! Me and sister have been talking about doing the full marathon for some time now but we haven't really done much to train for it. To be honest, I'm getting a bit too tired to wake up in the mornings now to run. Haha! don't know if this comes with age? :P Anyways, sister got jolted to sign up for the full marathon 1 day because she found out one of her friends who only started running last year signed up for the full too! Immediately, she signed up for herself and me!

For those who don't know, a full marathon is 42kms long! 42 freakin' kms! That's like running all the way to erm erm.. subang and back from my place!

Anyway, went for our usual weekend run yesterday and boy was that run bad! I felt like I was going out of breathe, my thighs started to hurt! Unsure if this was because I'm kinda still SLIGHTLY sick and body is not working at 100% to take oxygen in.. OR the fact that I haven't been training much during the weekdays anyway and it's ruining my weekend runs. Eitherway, the pressure is on, there's only 13 weeks till the full marathon. Have a half marathon in 2 weeks which I don't even know if I can do it now... :S Sis is still pumped like madd and already researching and coming up with timelines for our training!!

I guess worse comes to worse, i'll just walk the whole way?! I have walked 30kms before?! haha.. what's another 12 rite? RITE? :P

(Wah! This is way overdue - sorry guys!)

So I went for the Nike City 10km run like freakin' 2 weeks ago! It was my first official run in like the longest time.

Anyways, got up at 5.30 because sister said she was going to pick me up at 6am. Was wondering why so early because the race only started at 7.15 but I didn't question. :P It turned out that they were aiming for 6 because they knew they were late. Think they only came to pick me up at about 6.20-6.30am. So I fell back asleep (in my running gear) while waiting for them. Haha!

Brother in law dropped us off because he didn't join but he went for his usual running route. I wished I had a camera because there were a couple of things I would have loved to take! But I never run with anything besides my ipod and keys (if i had to drive).

1. There was this uncle and auntie that had (I-shit-you-not) Princess Leia hairdos made with towels!! ROFL! Haha! I guess that's the new in-thing to keep sweat from your face??
2. Our t-shirts were all neon yellow. So once the street lights were switched off, we were all glowing!! Cause there was still only minimal light, it wasn't that obvious but was imagining that if the lights went off earlier, it would have been so cool!!!

Stole the above photo from Nike Malaysia's twitter page.  Check out all the people! Quite cool huh?

I quite enjoyed the run. I think it's because it's a new route and there are new things to see. Getting on and off the elevated highway was pretty cool because you kinda run out into the open and see everything in the horizon in front of you. Although, the hills in and out the elevated highway were pretty tough as well (for me la at least). The other thing I din quite like about the route was the part where we had to go through a tunnel and they didn't block off the other side of traffic so we had to inhale fumes as we were running through it. I could see that everyone was actually running faster to get past the tunnel to get some fresh air!

Anyways, results came in today and because I can't remember how to print screen for the life of me on mac and I'm too tired to figure it out, I'm not going to post the screenshot. Although I would really like too though. Anyway! I managed to finish in 1 hour 3 minutes!! woohooo! And I think I was probably in the rear end of the pack so I might potentially have finished in 1 hour 2 minutes which I am very happy with! The last run I did which was the energizer run, I finished in 1 hour 5 mins! So improvement for me! Yay! Also, did rough calcs that IF (just IF), I manage to keep this pace for my half mara, I would be able to finish within 2 hours 15 mins which is what I'm aiming for!

Here's a photo of our finisher "medal". Cool huh? Another thing which I thought was unique for Nike. All the other runs, they just give you an actual medal, which I'm not complaining - because I get to keep track of my accomplishments; just that this was something different and unique! Mine was a  different one. I wonder where the characters are from though. Haven't seen them before! Only way to make this finisher "medal" cooler? Maybe have inscriptions on it to SAY that it's a NIKE 10km run finisher so that other people who see it will know straight up what it is.

P/s: was too lazy to take a picture of mine and couldn't be bothered anymore in the end cause this post is way overdue! LOL...

Yes - you read it right! I have 4 jobs! Haha! Sound like damn real like that right? Well... what's been up?

Job No. 1 - Runner by Morning
Have been trying to train up for my half in Singapore in December so I have pumped up the running again. Managed to get my momentum/steam going and am finally back to 3 times a week with close to 25kms in total. Next race is actually the Nike City 10KM run this weekend. Haven't officially been in a run in a long time. The last time was probably the Energizer night race.

Photo of me in the last Stan Chart Singapore.
Finished the Singapore Stan Chart half mara in 2 hours 40 mins if not mistaken. But aim for this year's is 2 hours 15 minutes! 5 minutes shaved off from my finishing time in the KL Stan Chart

Job No. 2 - Media Planner by Day (and Mostly Nights)
Yes - still working as a digital media Planner in GroupM. Only reason why I have the time to blog now? Somehow the documents which I sent to myself at work did not come through so do not have ANY of what I need to do.. *FML*. So have to wake up extra early tomorrow to get into work to finish up!

Job No. 3 - Entrepreneur by Night
For those who don't know. Me and my sister have started our own little business. Pretty Baby Bump. We recently expanded to sell baby clothes as well. Sample of one of the products we carry. Ain't it cute?! So yea - at nights, when I do not have to work, I just sit around to see where I can blast my link too so that I can get the awareness of my brand out there! :P *hint hint - cue nudge to whoever that is reading this for help*

Carter's Ice Cream Sleeveless Onesie

Job No. 4 - Blogger by Midnight
So - here I am. Haha! Blogging cause I finally have the time. Run = went this morning. Work = didn't bring home so tomorrow I die. Website = update all products and can't think of anything else to do. :P Hehe..

Till my next post? Wait till I've done all of the other 3 first again la. Hehehe....

So all of you know I went for my 15km run last week organised by Pacesetters and nearly died. I actually had to stop and walk for a bit because I couldn't take it. The weather was freakin hot as well! Anyways, the results are out! Obviously didn't do as well as last year but the route changed a little this year and I thought it was actually slightly harder. Haha! Maybe I'm just saying that to make myself feel better. :P Anyway, results are as below:

So, overall results were, number 79 out of 296 in my Women's open category. Number 136 out of ALL the women who took part. Unsure of how many there was this year but from the looks of it, I think more than 400 women, and number 786 out of ALL the participants.

Time was 1 hour and 47 mins.. :( BOO! but oh wells, what to do. Din even train much before this. Haih...

Wait a minute! *chup* Chot-toh-ma-teh! Just checked out my post last year and I didn't do as badly as I thought I did! Apparently I finished it in 1 hour 40 mins last year! If I did finish 5 mins before, I would have been almost at the same position as last year! Hmmm... I swore I remember finished at about 1.5 hours.. Oh wells!

Here's a simple analysis between last year and this year. Not that bad! Only a 3% increase in percentile! Hahahahaha! :D

Lastly, remembered sometime ago, I said I should take photos of my medals and see how many I can collect for the year. So here's no. 1 for 2010. Lol! honestly though, don't know how many more I'll be getting this year.. :P Thought the medal looked cool though. Can't remember how last years one looked like though..

Front of medal                                  Back of medal

The other thing that was cool this year was we could actually put a nickname on the bib the year! Thought that was quite cool - at least a step up from just the ordinary bibs. Although I don't think people actually see your nickname.

You know what would have been the coolest? If they actually embroided or plastered our name on the running top itself! Now THAT would be ideal! Hehehe.. :P I've always wanted my very own named jersey! Hehe..

Anyway, I guess I'm a happy camper since I found out I didn't do AS badly as I thought I did. Next stop, KL Marathon - Half Mara? Aiyooo.. I scared la. Let me see how first la. Cause I was really dying in this one! Haha! =)

Today, I am going to be blogging about blogging. Haha! Geddit Geddit?! "Blogging about blogging"??? Hehehehehehe... Okay.. fine. I'm lame. Sorry! This is what happens when you suddenly do not feel the urge to blog nemore. Or rather, do not know what to blog about. I now have the utmost (is that even a word? and if so, is that how i spell it? respect for bloggers who managed to gather like thousands and thousands of readers per day. The amount of work it takes - to come up with stuff to blog about every other day. To take photos of everything and anything and then transfer it to your comp THEN upload it to your blog. It's alot of work! And it takes effort mind you! I always find it hard to find a topic to blog about let alone the time and the effort to do so! How la to increase readership like that! Haha!

But I guess, it's also a chicken and the egg story? When you start, you're just trying to blog about everything and anything in hopes to make your blog more interesting to gain readership and once you do advertisers will come flocking to you TELLING you what to write about. Erm, now that I've written this down, it doesn't seem so much like the chicken and the egg story. Somehow it "looked" different in my head. :P

Also, I feel that blogging is kinda like running. Once you start, you kinda get the hang of it and it kinda becomes a habit and you'll just eventually end up blogging or SOMEHOW managed to find the time to blog. I guess, the 1 week or so absence I had from blogging kinda cut my flow. Which is about the same amount of time I need for my running bug to die out of me. I have a 15 km run this weekend organised by Pacesetters and I nearly died when I woke up to run this morning. Firstly, I was almost falling asleep while sitting up until I forced myself to go. Secondly, I was dying even before I reached the 6km mark! How la to finish 15km this weekend?! Haha! I think I have to find a new hobby soon. :(

Was sitting around on my bed thinking of what to blog about and I suddenly just realised that it has been more than a year since I started this blog. What started off as just a blog to commemerate me coming back and having as little as 1 - 5 blogs per month to now having about double or more then that amount! Haha! What has changed? Plenty! A quick rundown below:

1) Found myself a job in a media company called GroupM - finally something not boring like Accounting! Sorry che and ko (if you read this)! Haha! :P
2) Found myself a whacky boss who works in GroupM (photo below). Although, do have to mention that I think I am lucky in that sense. I think it is very hard to be able to find someone you are able to work with and still have a good time. =)

3) Finally someone I can rant, throw tantrums, and whine at and at the same time try and get lovings from.. Hehe.. :P

4) Had a H1N1 scare. Apparently the whole company was actually thinking of closing cause of me.
5) Moved into a new place - one where I will not post a picture of due to security reasons
6) Officially became an aunt - will post pictures soon =) Have not seen the little fella myself!
7) Ran 2 half marathons and various other shorter runs! Can you believe that?! Actually took a few photos of my medals but probably deleted them after I blogged about it because didn't find a point to keep photos of them. But think will start a taking photos of ALL my medals and see how many I am able to collect by next year! :D

So yea, that's about the most exciting things that has happened to me in the past year. Looking forward to many more exciting things! *fingers crossed* Hehe..

So I went for my first run since the Standard Chartered run in Singapore. Haven't been running at all since then and started like about 2 - 3 weeks ago and thought what's better than to motivate myself with a run. It was te Energiser night run - 10km. By then it was too late to register for the race but decided to go anyways. I was pumped! Excited to be back on the road. Excited to bring my brand new-sexy-pink-ipod with me on her maiden competitive run. My brother in law decided to go as well that night.

The race started at 9 in Putrajaya so we left the house at like 7-ish just to make sure we had ample time to get there, find parking etc. When we got there, while looking for the parking lots, we saw the full or half mara runners and we thought what they had to do was quite badly organised. They were using routes that cars could still get into. If the lanes were accurately separated, I would think it was not so bad, but there was 1 point where the runners were literally running next to our car because we were trying to get into the parking lot! Also, runners were actually given a headlight to wear which was optional. However, me, bf, and brother in law all thought that they should wear it because there were some roads which were not lit up by streetlights and we could barely see them! We thought that was really dangerous. Anyhow, managed to find our way to the starting point. Stretched and waited around for a bit and then we took off. Below are just some pictures of us stretching.

BF managed to get a photo of the Energizer man dancing around the starting line after the runners went off.

Anyways, loved the feeling of running on the road listening just to music again! Managed to finish the race in 1 hour 5 minutes! Was quite happy with the time considering I haven't been running. Plus was originally aiming for 1 hour 15 mins! Bf gave me 1 hour.. so I guess I'm in between la! Hehehehe!

Anyways, signed up myself up for the 15km Pacesetter run on 16 May already. For those interested, you may check out their website at http://www.pacesetters.com.my/. They will prompt you to another website which will allow you to sign up online. It's called MyRaceOnline or something like that. After that? Stand Chart half mara - here I come! Wheeeee!!
